INTERNET FAQS

Does NewWave Advanced Business Solutions have static IP addresses available to business customers?

Yes, static IP addresses are reserved for our business customers. We provide a single static IP address free with NewWave Advanced Business Solution’s Class Internet; each additional static IP is $10

Do I need a static IP address?

Customers who plan to run a server (email or otherwise), will need to look at utilizing at least (1) static IP option. The only way to run reverse DNS is through a static IP address. This device will need to be visible to the modem and will not work behind a router or firewall.

What do I need to know about setting up NewWave Advanced Business Solution’s static IP service?

The customer is responsible for any equipment beyond the cable modem. NewWave Advanced Business Solutions does not setup or configure customer routers or firewalls & support currently stops at the cable modem. It may be a good idea to have a member of your IT department or technical support on site the day of the install. Customers with multiple static IP addresses will share the provisioned bandwidth. The total available bandwidth will not exceed the provisioned bandwidth regardless of the number of IP address assigned to the account.

Is there a difference between residential and business service from NewWave?

Yes. While both residential and business Internet operate over the same reliable digital network, NewWave Advanced Business Solution’s Internet is designed for meeting the broadband capacity and features relative to business needs. Additionally, NewWave Advanced Business Solution’s customers receive service order and repair priority over everyone else on the network.

Will my installation take long?

NewWave Advanced Business Solution’s Internet service can be installed and provisioned much faster than our competition and with little or no downtime since we control all network elements.

Does NewWave guarantee its Advanced Business Solution’s Internet speed?

At NewWave, our customers and our integrity are vital to our success. At the same time, Internet speed can be volatile and we cannot guarantee that situations beyond our control will not interfere with your connection speed.  However you should expect no less than 80% and up to 110% of your provisioned speed.

What is the process to upgrade my NewWave Advanced Business Solution’s Internet speed?

All you need to do is contact your local NewWave Business Services Manager. Upgrades can be made very quickly.

Is my NewWave Advanced Business Solutions Internet connection shared?

There is no such thing as a dedicated connection, as claimed by some providers. Since all connections are shared, providing a high-speed Internet experience depends on your service provider’s network capacity, scalability and overall architecture. The NewWave Advanced Business Solution’s network is designed to be highly scalable, providing increased network capabilities as demand increases.

Do all service providers deliver the same high performance Internet access?

Not all providers invest in a digital infrastructure to ensure a high performance connection. NewWave provides a high-speed, redundant, national IP backbone for business customers to use while connecting to the Internet. Further, NewWave’s local cable networks have been largely rebuilt in recent years and are designed with growth in mind. Our Hybrid Fiber Coax network (HFC) is highly scalable, enabling expansion of available bandwidth to meet increasing business demands without costly equipment or network upgrades.

How does NewWave Advanced Business Solution’s technology differ from the technology that my local telephone company uses to offer DSL service?

DSL technology is delivered over copper, twisted-pair wiring used for telephone service that was installed decades ago for low-speed, low-capacity voice communications; in contrast NewWave Advanced Business Solution’s state-of-the-art broadband network was designed to deliver powerful, two-way interactive services. By meeting the stringent standards of Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification (DOCSIS), NewWave’s HFC specifications provide user data privacy across the cable network by encrypting and authenticating data traffic flow to and from the cable modem and the NewWave HFC network. Our cable modem services are highly reliable because the architecture provides multiple paths to each of NewWave Advanced Business Solutions’ nodes serving 250 or fewer customers. As such, the self-healing distribution offers the customer a continuous, secure connection.

This guarantees the quality of the network that carries your voice signal and provides a crisp, clear digital voice service.

VIDEO FAQs

What is this Broadcast TV Surcharge that has been added to my bill?

The Broadcast TV Surcharge reflects a portion of the rapidly escalating charges levied by the owners of your local broadcast TV stations, including NBC, ABC, CBS, Fox and others. The retransmission consent fees that local broadcast TV stations charge NewWave Business to carry their channels have increased dramatically over the past several years and we expect them to increase substantially again in 2018. This is despite the fact that broadcast TV stations use spectrum granted to them for free by the federal government, and customers can pick these signals up for free with an antenna. Despite our best efforts to control these dramatically increasing retransmission consent fees, NewWave Business, like other cable and satellite companies, can no longer continue to absorb these increased costs, and must pass a portion along to our customers.

Why am I now paying a Sports Surcharge on my Cable TV services?

Sports programming has become one of the biggest drivers of programming cost increases for cable and satellite providers, and now represents a significant amount of NewWave Business’s programming costs. Despite our best efforts to control these sports programming fees, NewWave Business, like other cable and satellite companies, can no longer continue to absorb these increased costs. As a result, we must pass a portion of these costs on to our customers. This surcharge covers a small portion of our costs to carry increasingly expensive sports programming that is carried by networks in every level of our channel lineup, including dedicated sports channels such as ESPN, NBC Sports, and the NFL Network, as well as on general entertainment networks such as TNT, TBS, USA Network, and your Regional Sports Networks.

Why did my rate for limited basic/expanded basic Cable TV service increase?

At NewWave Business, we’re committed to providing our customers with quality TV programming at a competitive price and we make every effort to minimize costs. In our contract negotiations with cable networks we work hard to ensure you don’t suffer unfair price increases as a result of unreasonable demands. Over the past three years, however, cable networks have increased their rates by an average of nearly 30%. Despite our best efforts to control these dramatically increasing programming costs, NewWave Business, like other cable and satellite companies, must pass a portion of these costs on to our customers.
